Community Guidelines

Marothon is for keeping track of what you watch, and for sharing that with people you have chosen to share it with. It is a small, quiet place, and these guidelines exist to keep it that way. They are part of our Terms of Service, so breaking them can cost you your account.

There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users.

What you post

The things other people see from you are your username, your display name, and your profile photo. They are small, but they are the whole surface, so they carry the whole rule.

• Nothing sexual. No nudity, no sexually explicit imagery, no sexual content involving minors. The last of these gets your account terminated immediately and reported to the authorities.
• No hate. No slurs, hate symbols, or content attacking people for their race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, disability, age, sex, gender identity, or sexual orientation.
• No violence or gore. No graphic violence, no threats, nothing that glorifies harm.
• Nothing that encourages self-harm. Including suicide and eating disorders.
• Don’t pretend to be someone else. Don’t use a name or photo that misrepresents who you are, and don’t impersonate a real person or organisation.
• Use images you have the right to use. A photo of you is ideal. Someone else’s photo, or copyrighted artwork, is not.
• No spam or advertising. Your display name is not a billboard.

Every profile photo is checked automatically before anyone else can see it, and a photo that fails that check is never published. That check is not the whole of enforcement. It is the first pass, and reports catch what it misses.

How you treat other people

• Don’t harass anyone. No bullying, threats, stalking, or piling on.
• Respect the answer. If someone declines your follow request, or removes you as a follower, that is the answer. Don’t keep asking.
• Don’t evade a block. If someone has blocked you, making a new account to get around it is itself a violation, and a serious one.
• Don’t share other people’s private information. Not theirs, not anyone’s.

What you can do about it

• Block anyone, at any time. Blocking removes any follow between you in both directions and stops them seeing your profile or asking again. You never need a reason and we never tell them.
• Report a person or a photo from inside the app. Filing a report blocks them automatically, so you are protected the moment you tap it. You are not waiting on us to act.
• Lock your account down. You can require approval for every follower, stop appearing in search entirely, remove all your followers at once, or turn the social features off altogether. All of it is in Settings.

What happens when someone breaks these rules

We aim to review every report within 24 hours. What we do depends on what happened and whether it has happened before:

• Removing the photo, display name, or username involved.
• Limiting access to the social features.
• Suspending the account.
• Terminating the account permanently.

Anything involving the sexual exploitation of minors, or a credible threat of violence, skips the ladder: the account is terminated immediately and we may report it to law enforcement.
